STATUS: CURRENT

The goal of the DARIAH-PL project, funded under the National Recovery Plan, is to develop a national smart digital research infrastructure for the humanities and arts by establishing a national ecosystem for interdisciplinary research on archaeological materials and cultural heritage.
The project’s outcomes—such as services for processing research objects and linking data and tools to implement advanced research scenarios—will help strengthen digital humanities and art studies in Poland. They will also help remove barriers to accessing interconnected digital resources and tools, including for people with disabilities. In doing so, they will positively contribute to the implementation of equal opportunity policies.

The infrastructure developed under the project will be usable in both national and international research projects, as well as in activities carried out in collaboration with commercial partners.

The project is being carried out by a consortium of 13 research institutions.

The project is a continuation of the consortium’s activities, which were carried out, among other things, as part of the recently completed Dariah.lab project. The entire initiative is supported by the National Recovery Plan, Task A2.4.1: "Investments in the expansion of research capacity." It is part of a long-term plan to deepen cooperation in the development of digital infrastructure for the humanities and arts in Poland.

In this project, WCSS is responsible for the following tasks:
  1. A multilingual transcription service for audiovisual materials, including search functionality.
  2. A service for presenting 2D content, including manual and community-based annotation features in accordance with the IIIF (International Image Interoperability Framework) specification.
  3. A service for searching and indexing public records.
  4. A service for expanding the scope of historical data on place names to include temporal aspects.
  5. A service for managing resources that serve as reference sources.
